Why KAPLA Art

It started with Abby.

Abby was my first dog. Way too smart — she had the trash can figured out, the doors, all of it. We had her for ten years. When the cancer took her, we were moving around a lot, and I couldn't bring myself to leave her behind. So she came with us. A drawer, then a box. A drawer, then a box. Years of it. It never felt right. She deserved more than a drawer. I wanted a place to keep her — one that reminded me she was still with me, that didn't look like a paw-print box or a dog-shaped urn. So I made her one.

They give us everything. The least we can do is give them a place.

One companion at a time.

Every vessel is sanded, polished, and sealed by hand, here in Marin. Every portrait is etched and colored the same way; slowly, by me. Nothing is mass-produced, and no two come out the same. Your companion was one of a kind. So is the piece that remembers them.

Not ready yet? That's okay.

Losing a companion knocks the wind out of you. We wrote a few honest guides. No selling. Just help.
